Alternative Medicine ... Growing in Charlotte, North Carolina

Alternative Medicine is growing in popularity, globally, in the U.S. right here in Charlotte, North Carolina, and I’d like you to know why. A non-traditional or non-conventional medical treatment, Alternative Medicine treats the whole person. By that we mean it treats more than one thing physically that’s going on in the body at the same time. Alternative Medicine addresses things in the body that interact, things that may be interdependent, conditions that are most effectively treated by looking at them together, as a whole, and doing that in a way that is as non-invasive, non-toxic, and natural as possible. That’s Alternative Medicine.

Alternative Medicine, however, addresses much more than our physical bodies. Alternative Medicine treats the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. We’ve understood for years the role that stress plays in causing illness. When our emotional health is depleted, for example, eventually our physical health suffers. Patients who see me come from Charlotte and surrounding areas, but they’re also coming from cities and towns several hours away in NC. And they’re coming from South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Texas, and California. They’re coming because we’re treating them as a whole person.

As an Alternative Medicine Physician, I take a lot of time to listen to my patients. We spend a lot more time together than what traditional treatment allows for. The patient knows his/her body best. That is absolutely true, and it’s something that has been ignored far too long. Together, through Alternative Medicine techniques, we custom-design treatment plans that are unique, ones that work for patients individually. I spend time learning about their personalities, their lifestyles, their stressors, etc. I do that so that I can better assist them in resolving health problems and in having a healthier lifestyle.

Did you know that dentistry was “fringe” medicine at the turn of the century? Now, however, it’s considered traditional, wholly conventional. More and more, patients and practitioners are discovering that Alternative Medicine works, as evidenced by its growing insertion into traditional medical treatment through integrative and complementary treatment. Maybe someday “Alternative Medicine” won’t be considered fringe; I don’t know. What I do know is that it’s working. I know I’m helping patients in Charlotte, North Carolina, and surrounding areas and states. As a doctor, there’s no better feeling than to know that you’re helping change the quality of life for many, many people.
